PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Manages one or more of the Housing Authority's public housing developments. Performs asset management functions, such as budgeting, preventative maintenance and strategic planning. Enforces lease and manages maintenance operations. Implements HUD rules and regulations.  Calculates applicant's family income, determines amount of monthly rent, and monitors compliance with Authority's policies and procedures and HUD occupancy standards. Collects rent, security deposits and other payments.  Documents collections and deposit funds in bank. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in an administrative capacity in public housing or property management required. Associates degree in Business, Public Administration, or Social Sciences from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as an Assistant Manager, or at least three years working in an administrative capacity at a housing development, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Good knowledge of Housing Authority operating policies and procedures; principles, practices and techniques of public housing management; HUD regulations pertaining to low-rent housing; and services available through local social service agencies. Valid Texas Drivers License. Copies of diplomas or transcripts and driving record may be required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is principally sedentary, but may involve some physical exertion, such as kneeling, crouching, or lifting to obtain files and records, and eye strain from working with computers and other office equipment. The work involves normal risks and discomforts associated with an office environment, but is usually in an area that is adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated.
